Description

Advion Fire Ant Bait, manufactured by Syngenta, is one of the most rapidly effective baits on the pest control market for eliminating fire ants. Advion can wipe out fire ants in as little as 2 or 3 days—killing the entire fire ant colony.

Advion Fire Ant Bait may be labeled mainly for fire ants, but it has been proven to control Bigheaded ants and Pavement ants as well.

Advion Fire Ant Bait contains indoxacarb 0.045%, a revolutionary new active ingredient that comes from the oxadiazine class of chemicals. Indoxacarb works by blocking nerve sodium channels in insects’ bodies, leading to dehydration and death.

Tools Needed

To apply Advion Fire Ant Bait you will need a granular spreader. A handheld or broadcast spreader should work fine for smaller applications. This product can be applied as both a broadcast treatment and to individual mounds.

Step 1: Determine how much Advion Fire Ant Bait you will need for your treatment area by calculating the square footage. To do this, measure (in feet) and multiply the area length times the width (length x width = square footage). The rate is 0.5 oz per 1,000 sq ft or 1.5 pounds per acre. So for example, if you calculated a treatment area of 3,000 square feet to treat, you would need 1.5 oz. of Advion Fire Ant Bait.
Step 2: Load your granule spreader with Advion Fire Ant Bait. Calibrate and adjust equipment prior to application to ensure that the proper rate of product will be applied.
Step 3: Apply the Advion Fire Ant Bait uniformly on the treatment area. For broadcast treatment, this may take numerous passthrough in order to get an even spread. When treating ant mounds, applying uniformly 3 to 4 feet around the mound. Do not apply to the tops of the mound or disturb the mound during application. Repeat application as needed for continued control.
Where to Use

Advion Fire Ant Bait is labeled to be used on lawns, landscaped areas, golf courses, commercial grounds, parks, other non-cropland areas such as airports, roadsides, cemeteries, commercial grounds, parks, school grounds, picnic grounds, athletic fields, and other recreational areas, as well as grounds surrounding poultry houses (excluding runs and ranges) or corrals and other animal holding areas.

When to Use

Advion Fire Ant Bait can be applied any time of the day but the best time to apply Advion Fire Ant Bait is either early in the morning or in the evenings. It is during these peak times that fire ants are usually foraging for food. This fire ant bait may be scattered as a broadcast treatment or used on individual mounds. If it rains within 4 hours, Advion Fire Ant Bait would not work as well, so wait for the forecast to show no rain for a couple of days. Up to 4 applications of Advion Fire Ant Bait may be applied per year. These are generally applied at 12 to 16 week intervals.

Safety Information

Advion Fire Ant Bait is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Please wear the appropriate PPE (gloves, long-sleeved clothing, protective eyewear etc.) when applying. Keep children and pets away from baited areas after applying.

Special Considerations

Advion Fire Ant Bait comes in two sizes, a 2-pound pail suitable for multiple uses in residential homes (that should last years) or a 25-pound pail, for commercial jobs.
